An US law police officer has been lauded after he climbed into a burning car for saving two kids and a lady.

Dashcam video reveals officers running towards the flaming wreckage and then risking their lives when they saw people are still caught inside.

“These are the dreadful scenes officers and firefighters come across frequently,” the Charles Nation Sherriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post featuring the video on Saturday.

“They didn’t have time to think, they (the officers) just responded.”

The constable’s office stated responding officers initially did not understand people were still inside the burning vehicle.

“When officers showed up, they encountered heavy smoke and flames. Cpl. Saunders utilized fire extinguishers to help put out the fire – he went through a number of extinguishers,” the post read.

“Officer Bottorf pulled the motorist away from the burning car (he had a busted leg and other fractures and was not able to move). They didn’t understand there were people still in the vehicle.”

“When officers understood a woman and 2 other babies were still caught, one officer entered the burning automobile, and pulled the kids to safety prior to freeing the lady.”

Three adults and 2 kids were critically injured in the Maryland crash, authorities said.

The sheriff workplace’s Facebook post about the crash has gotten over 1000 reactions, with numerous social networks users thanking the officers.
