Report: Honda Ridgeline to be dropped in 2014

by SpeedLux

According to a recent report, Honda has decided that the Honda Ridgeline will go out of production pretty soon.

As per the report, the model will be phased out as early as September of 2014 which is a little surprising since the next generation model isn’t expected to be launched until the middle of 2016.

It is not very clear as to what made the management to take this decision and why the same has been phased out so early leaving a gap of around 2 years till the next model is launched.

Talking about the performance of the model, the year 2006 saw the peak sales of 50,193 units in the United States. Since then the sales have been slowing down and managed to sell only 14,068 units in 2012 which is still a 44.2% improvement over previous year 2011. The improved sales can be credited to the introduction of the Ridgeline Sport which comes with cool features that include a honeycomb grille, tinted headlights, black exterior trim and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Not much detail is available currently about the next generation Ridgeline but it could very well continue to be one of the most car-like trucks on the market.
