Rumor: McLaren in the process of readying a 2+2 supercar christened MP4-12 GT

by Alex

Rumormill has it that McLaren is working on a 2+2 supercar that has been named the MP4-12 GT.

Unconfirmed reports have come in which indicates that the McLaren MP4-12C would not include a 2+2 setup and would be named the MP4-12 GT. This adds one more seat to the famous three seater of the McLaren F1.

There is however talk about the rear seats not making for comfortable seating and rather more for show just like the Lotus Evora. The additional seat also adds to the curb weight of the car and that would increase from being less than 3100 pounds at present. The MP4-12C has otherwise an active suspension controlled electronically. It is also incorporated with shifters that are paddle operated. The car is due for launch in spring 2011.
