The All New Hyundai Avantre Revealed To Replace Elantra

by Alex

Hyundai has today unveiled the next generation Elantra saloon at the Busan International Motor Show and the new car will be known as the Avante in Korea. This comes in the heels of the car major unveiling the all new Accent at the Beijing International Motor Show.

The Avante is a lot more sporty than the car it replaces while carrying forward the ‘fluid sculpture’ design philosophy that has come to be the hallmark of all new releases from Hyundai Motors. Overall, the car sports the looks of a four door coupe.

However, Hyundai is yet to reveal what the interiors of the car will be looking like though experts opine that the new Elantra may borrow style cues from the larger Sonata as far as interior styling is concerned. Much of the technical details pertaining to the Avante has been kept under wraps too, though Hyundai has let it known that powering the new Elantra will be the new 1.6-liter Gamma Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The four-cylinder engine makes 140 horsepower of max power and 166Nm or 122 lb-ft of max torque. Also, as per company sources, fuel efficiency of the new engine will be about 10 percent more than its nearest competitors.

The new Avante will be featuring High Intensity Discharge or HID headlamps with LED combination lamps in the rear. In the interior, there will be heated rear seats, a color TFT LCD information display system housed in the gauge cluster along with puddle lamps.

“The new Avante encompasses Hyundai’s latest ambitions, featuring the best styling and performance in its class,” stated Steve S. Yang, President & CEO of Hyundai’s Global Business Division at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO).  “We’re confident that it will once again redefine the compact segment worldwide.”

The new Avante is slated to hit showrooms during the second half of this year followed by a worldwide release either towards the end of this year or early next year.
