Toyota donates almost $1.5 million to Michigan Science Center

Japanese auto company Toyota has donated almost $1.5 million to the Michigan Science Center in Detroit to assist upgrade its theater and increase educational offerings.

The automaker states the donation announced Thursday is the most recent in ts efforts to promote and expand education in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields, called STEM. Funding will help the center broaden its STEM education shows, that includes both instructors and students. Toyota states it sees a shortage of experts in those fields.

The contribution also will be used to change and update the Toyota Engineering Theatre, complete with a brand-new high-definition forecast system with 3D watching capabilities and boosted lighting.
