Maserati & Alfa Romeo crossovers to be produced in Italy

by SpeedLux

Fiat Boss had actually revealed that the Maserati Levante would be built at the Detroit Assembly plant, but according to new sources the model will actually be made at the company’s Italian plant.

The sudden change in plan is quite normal as the Levante will be based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee which is being built at the Detroit Plant. but there are indications that the Italian plant could eventually build the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Reliable sources are indicating that the Alfa Romeo‘s crossover could be produced at the Mirafiori plant as well. Not like the Levante, the Alfa Romeo crossover is expected to be based on the CUSW platform that supports the Dodge Dart and the next-generation Jeep Liberty / Cherokee.

Whatever may be the case, the Levante is expected to go into serial production in 2014 followed by the Alfa Romeo crossover a year later.
