2 dead after car crash on Redwood Road

Two people were killed after a car crash on Redwood Road in Salt Lake City on Thursday.

The crash took place when a van hit a garbage truck head-on at about 7:20 a.m. at 980 S. Redwood Road.

The driver and a passenger in the van died due to the crash. The driver of the garbage truck, who hit his brakes in an attempt to avoid the crash was being treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

The southbound lanes of Redwood Road were shut at Indiana Avenue for some hours while police investigated the crash.
