2 killed, 2 injured after car crash near St. Joseph

Two people were killed and two others were injured after a head-on car crash near St. Joseph in Missouri.

The crash was reported just after 6 a.m. Friday on Route A.

The crash took place when the driver of a Chevrolet 3500 was traveling north and the driver of a Ford Fiesta was traveling south and when the driver of the Chevrolet crossed the centerline and then tried to avoid the Ford by traveling back into the northbound lane.

The driver of the Ford also tried to avoid the Chevy by traveling into the northbound lane and the two vehicles crashed head-on.

Two passengers in the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene.

One passenger was identified as a 19-year-old named Alexander L. Brown, of St. Joseph. Another one was a 14-year-old from St. Joseph.

The female driver of the Ford was flown to KU Health System.

The driver of the Chevrolet had small injuries.

Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
