No more spy photos and speculations! Porsche has released details about the next-generation Cayenne, which is more efficient(fuel consumption is down up to 23 %) and sportier.
New addition to the Cayenne range is the Cayenne S Hybrid with its technically highly sophisticated parallel full hybrid drive that combines an supercharged V6 with an electric motor for a total output of 380 hp. Average fuel consumption is just 8.2 litres/100 kilometres (34.4 mpg).
New introduction to the Cayenne range is also new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission with Auto Start Stop and a wide spread of gear ratios, thermal management on the engine and transmission cooling circuit, on-board network recuperation, variable engine cut-off and intelligent lightweight construction.
Light weight materials and new extra-light all-wheel drive system has cut Cayenne S weight by 180 kilos (400 lb). New design is sportier and more elegant, integrating the new Cayenne even more closely into the overall range of Porsche cars.
Wheelbase has grown by 40 mm (1.6 “) and length by 48 mm (1.9”) compared to its predecessor. Despite bigger size, it is far more compact and dynamic.
The range starts with the 3.6-liter V6 Cayenne with 300 hp. The Cayenne Diesel with its 3.0-liter V6 produces 240 hp and reduces fuel consumption by 20 per cent, down from 9.3 to 7.4 ltr/100 km.
Cayenne S packs now 400 hp instead of the former 385 hp. Turbo version uses the 4.8-liter V8 biturbo and consumes just 11.5 ltr/100 km (equal to 27.6 mpg imp).
