2012 Wikispeed SGT01 concept shown at the Detroit Motor Show

by Alex

A common feature in every auto show is the presence of a concept car in the event. The reason for such an entry is that the creator hopes that some financier would get interested in the concept and agree to finance the project thereafter. The Wikispeed SGT01 concept car at the Detroit Auto Show was just such a concept car on display. The car was on display in body / chassis / interior / suspension form at the event in the Cobb Hall. There was no engine fitted upon the concept and therefore it was a guess on how far the project had progressed this far.

The project had been started for the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize competition and progress had been in small and slow steps. Joe Justice, the company’s founder has no funds to go ahead with this project and was on the lookout for getting a financier for the same. The estimated cost of the project is about $750,000.

There is no clue if such a financier would be found or not. The aim of the event therefore is to get as much attention on the project and that would increase the probability of finding a financier for the same.
