2014 Acura TSX to be axed, TLX concept to debut in Detroit

by SpeedLux

Acura has recently announced its plans to introduce the 2015 TLX concept at the upcoming North American International Auto Show.

Set to replace the TL, the TLX will be a mid-size luxury sedan that will have more emotional styling with tidier, sports sedan proportions. The model will also come equipped with two new powertrains, a new transmission and an optional all-wheel drive system.

According to Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President of American Honda Motor, the all-new Acura TLX is the perfect blend of style and muscle and has elegant, well-proportioned exterior that cloaks the true sport sedan chassis and powertrain beneath. He further stated that the sporty characteristics that customers found appealing in the TSX model are even more pronounced in this aggressive new TLX version.

The TLX will go into production phase in the second half of next year and the pricing is still suspense but it will be announced closer to launch. Acura has also stated that it will axe the TSX so that the company can focus on three distinct sedans: the ILX, TLX and RLX.

We can expect more details to be out as the launch date comes nearer.
