General Motors (GM) showcased yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show the seventh-generation of classic American sports car dubbed as 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which is also the first new version of the sports car since 2005. The new car boasts about 450 horsepower as well as 450 pound-feet of torque, which is considered to be the most powerful standard Corvette so far.

The exterior of 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray comes with sharp edges and angles that seems to be following the footstep of evolutionary design debuting in the 2005 redesign of it. The predecessor had rounded edges.

According to TrueCar.com senior analyst, this car will be the most polarizing one at the show this year as re-creation of it from swoopy heritage will be loved by many. Other analysts reacted commenting the car is distinctive even paying homage to the tradition. More to all these, the new Corvette Stingray justifies the name (Stingray) by breaking from tradition and still remaining recognizable as Corvette across the world.

The new Corvette Stingray will be able to speed up from zero to 60 mph within four seconds and it can also achieve over 1G in cornering grip, says Chevrolet. It is also learned that the car will be the most fuel-efficient Corvette so far.

It is equipped with all-new 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine that features 3 new technologies – active fuel management system, variable valve timing and direct injection.
