by SpeedLux

Mercedes has officially launched the 2014 Unimog and Econic.

The 2014 Unimog comes with a new panoramic cab which has a prominent grille, LED daytime running lights and new windscreen wipers that are mounted above the window for better visibility. In the interiors, the cockpit gains a larger instrument cluster, optimized controls, an improved heating and cooling system, a front camera monitor, a removable joystick (which helps to control various accessories) and an updated central tire inflation system with various pre-programmed modes such as “road”, “sand” and “bad surface”.

Talking about the power, detailed specifications have not been provided but the car would come with a variety of engines such as the Euro VI compliant four and six-cylinder units that would have outputs ranging from 156 HP (115 kW) to 354 HP (260 kW).

The other car Econic is completely redesigned with a new grille, stronger bumpers and LED daytime running lights. In the interiors, the cabin has been improvised with a new steering wheel, additional sound deadening material and lockage storage compartments.

The car would feature a 7.7-liter diesel engine which will be capable of producing 299 HP (220 kW) or 354 HP (260 kW). The engine would be connected to a six-speed automatic transmission gearbox which would help the model to be up to four percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

As per the company, both the models are expected to go into production phase in September and go on sale later this year.
