General Motors appointed former Central Intelligence Agency official Jami Miscik to its board, the leading U.S. automaker stated on Wednesday.

Miscik is the chief executive officer and vice chair of New York-based consulting firm Kissinger Associates.

Miscik, who earlier served on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, is also on Morgan Stanley’s board.

GM shares are dropped over 20 percent since the beginning of 2018.

“Jami is a seasoned leader with experience in assessing the geopolitical and macroeconomic climate,” stated Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “Her unique and extensive background in intelligence, security and risk analysis and mitigation will add significant insights to GM’s board and the company’s overall strategy,” Barra added.
