Ford Motor has brought a new function in the 2020 Explorer called Calm Screen, which will help drivers chill out.
In 2020 Ford Explorer SUVs geared up with the optional 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, drivers can activate the Calm Screen setting to hide overall driving data except for the car’s present speed and fuel level. Ford called the function “Mindful Mode”. It provides a break from the constant stream of data and alerts bombarding us, said Lee Newcombe, Ford Explorer brand marketing manager.
Similar to this function, Mercedes-Benz has a more involved system named Energizing Comfort that can use ambient lighting, curated playlists, seat massagers as well as scent diffusers to help chill out drivers.
The 2020 Ford Explorer debuted at the Detroit Auto Show and goes on sale this summer. Together with the standard model, there will be a thrifty hybrid version able to span up to 500 miles on a tank of fuel and a sporty Explorer ST having 400 horsepower and corresponding handling upgrades.
