FIOM, the Italian metalworker union, on Monday, called on Fiat Chrysler to come up with new car models to be produced in its home town of Turin to make sure that the Mirafiori plant there reaches full employment.

In October Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot owner PSA revealed strategies to form a $50 billion group, set to become the No.4 automaker of the world.

But experts fear the merger could create a group with spare production amount of almost six million vehicles in a declining autos market.

Fiat Chrysler has vowed to spend 750 million euros in its Mirafiori plant in Turin, as part of a 5 billion euro strategy to 2021 for Italy, but FIOM stated that a new business plan was required to boost production and boost jobs.
