Ford Motor stated on Monday that the reservations for the first edition of its electric sport utility vehicle, Mustang Mach-E, are full.

The American automaker revealed the electric Mustang crossover on November 17 and started taking reservations with a refundable deposit of $500. Ford did not provide information regarding how many reservations it took.

The Mach-E has become a high-profile test for a reorganization of Ford as the automaker has been marred by profit warnings, expensive quality issues and the troubled launch this year of another significant vehicle, the Ford Explorer sport-utility.

The Mach-E was revealed in Los Angeles in November. It will be constructed in Mexico, the first of more than a dozen all-electric vehicles Ford prepares to release by 2022 with an investment of $11.5 billion. The Mach-E’s design took its inspiration from the classic 1960s Mustang sports car and is supposed to challenge electric automaker Tesla Inc.

Over 80% of U.S. customers are reserving Mach-E with an extended range battery, whereas about 55% opted for an all-wheel drive, Ford stated.

Over 25% of the reservations come from California, with almost 30% of U.S. customers selecting Mach-E GT, the company stated.
