A tractor-trailer crashed into a building in eastern Johnston County, North Carolina on Friday night, which led to the collapse of the building.
The truck first hit a car then came to a halt under the building. The car spun after it was hit by the truck and the driver of the car was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
N.C. Highway 39 was shut in both directions, near N.C. Highway 231 in Johnston County near Middlesex for three hours due to investigation by police and firefighters.
The driver of the truck was admitted to the hospital with injuries the fire marshal said were not threatening. The driver of the car wasn’t injured.
“The good Lord was riding with both of them,” said Chief Ross Carol of the Corinth-Holders Fire Department.
According to the owner of the building, it had been the Emit post office until 1910, then was used as a store and had been vacant for decades.
