A Long Island driver triggered a fatal five-car smash-up during the weekend, officials said.
Ant’Wan Pevy, 25, of Ronkonkoma was behind the wheel of a 2011 Kia sedan moving north on Nicolls Road in Centereach, Suffolk County, New York, when “a medical event” allegedly caused him to lose control, officials said.
His Kia hit a 2016 Nissan SUV being used by Zachary Morrison, 29, of Holbrook at the intersection of Middle Country Road, police said.
Morrison was declared dead at the scene.
Pevy’s car also hit a 2018 Mercedes, a 2015 Audi, and 2000 Jeep, authorities said.
No one else in the other cars suffered injuries, police said.
Pevy was admitted to the hospital for observation and later charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle by Suffolk County Police.
