Greenup County High School officials in Greenup County, Kentucky, said a high school senior in the county died Saturday in a car crash.

Madison Blair, 18, a student of the school, was driving southbound on New Haven Road in Nelson County when officials said she lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

Blair was admitted to a local hospital where she was declared dead.

Superintendent Traysea Moresea wrote on a Facebook post:

It is with sadness that I share the tragic loss of a senior class member of GCHS. Madison Blair, a Virtual Learning Track student, was killed in an automobile accident. Madison attended Argillite Elementary and Wurtland Middle School before her arrival at GCHS. Madison was the current president of the FFA and had a strong worth ethic. She was an honor student at GCHS and had accumulated 21 college credit hours through dual credit between her junior and senior years. Her accolades for FFA were far too numerous to list. Madison planned to attend U of L in the fall and had already been accepted.”

Grief counseling will be available at the school on Monday. Students who attend virtual classes can also set up an on-site appointment for counseling.
