A driver who caused fatal crash in Pittsburg, California on Monday was arrested for driving under the influence.
The car crash occurred around 6:05 p.m. in the 800 block of W. Leland, according to Contra Costa Fire Department officials.
According to police, the suspect was traveling at high speed on West Leland Road and struck into another vehicle, causing the car to crash with a tree. The impact killed the victim and 3 children in the car were ejected.
The children suffered serious injuries and were taken to area hospitals. Two were airlifted, the official said. One of them has died.
Two passengers in the suspects vehicle also sustained serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
Police said the suspect showed apparent signs of impairment and was arrested over driving under the influence.
Identities of the victims are yet to be revealed.
Officials had asked the public to avoid the area for the time being.
