A three-vehicle crash on early Sunday on eastbound I-80 resulted in two deaths after the drivers were hit standing on the freeway while arguing after the crash.

California Highway Patrol got calls around 1:36 a.m. of an argument actively taking place between two drivers in lanes of traffic on I-80 eastbound west of University Avenue. Minutes later calls streamed in of a vehicle crash with injuries at the same place.

When CHP attended the crash site, they saw a Chevrolet Malibu, a Dodge Durango and a Mini Cooper. The officials also found two people who were pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation shows the Chevrolet Malibu and Dodge Durango were involved in a non-injury car crash on I-80 eastbound. The two male drivers and one female passenger exited their respective vehicles, into lanes of traffic, and commenced to argue about the crash.

As the parties were outside of their vehicles in the lanes of traffic, an on-coming Mini Cooper hit the two male drivers outside their vehicles. The female passenger was probably hit by debris and was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The identities of the victims were not released as of yet.
