Ford Motor on Tuesday asked salaried employees in the US to reveal their vaccination status against COVID-19 in a bid to adhere to wider federal guidelines.
The automaker said salaried workers should submit their vaccination status against COVID-19 by October 8 but the process was voluntary for its hourly workers represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union.
The automaker’s move comes as the Biden administration pursues additional measures to boost vaccination coverage in the United States while pushing large workers to have their workers inoculated or tested weekly.
Separately, CEO Jim Farley said in a CNBC interview that Ford’s leadership team was vaccinated against COVID-19 and that the automaker was conducting a survey to know how many workers had been vaccinated.
“When it comes to the larger population of Ford, we want people to get vaccinated,” Farley said, adding the automaker would work with UAW over vaccinations.
