3 dead after pileup of dozens of vehicles in Pennsylvania

At least three were confirmed dead after tractor-trailers and other vehicles hit each other during a snow squall on an icy interstate in Pennsylvania on Monday.

More than a dozen were injured.

At least 50 vehicles were involved in the pileup.

The crash took place on Interstate 81. It was captured in videos posted on social media showing that drivers and passengers were lining the snowy road and jumping out as multiple vehicles crashed in less than a minute.

Officials confirmed three fatalities by afternoon but added that the number could increase.

Pennsylvania State Police was investigating the incident.
