Former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds was killed in a single-vehicle car crash in North Queensland.
The 46-year-old former cricket all-rounder was killed on Saturday night, outside Townsville, where he lived after taking retirement from cricket.
Symonds was driving on Hervey Range Road close to Alice River Bridge shortly after 11 pm, when his car left the road and rolled.
Emergency service workers tried to revive him before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Townsville officials said the cause of the crash was not known.
Symonds played 26 Test matches and 198 one day internationals (ODI) for Australia. He was involved in two Cricket World Cup victories.
A number of cricketers paid tribute to Symonds upon hearing the news of his death.
