2 killed after wrong-way crash on I-485 in Pineville

Two were killed after a wrong-way car crash on Tuesday on Interstate 485 in Pineville, North Carolina.

The officials were notified of the crash just before 3 a.m. to the scene on the outer loop of the interstate.

The crash took place when a 2005 Ford, driven by a 36-year-old identified as Chantel Moniece Mack, was going in the wrong direction when it struck a 2012 Volkswagen, driven by William Adkins, of South Carolina.

Mack and Adkins were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in both cars.

The outer loop of I-485 was closed for nearly three hours before resuming by 6 a.m.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
