Nissan Motor is recalling over 300,000 SUVs in the United States over a concern in which the hood suddenly opens, blocking the driver’s view and boosting the risk of a crash.
The automaker said 322,671 Pathfinder vehicles for models between 2013 and 2016 are going to be recalled.
The recall also concerns about 37,700 vehicles of the models in Canada which are not sold in Japan.
Nissan said the accumulation of dirt and dust on the secondary hood latch could result in it staying open even if the hood is shut, potentially permitting it to pop up without warning, according to a filing to the U.S. regulatory body.
The automaker said a remedy is under development and it will send out interim notifications from this week.
