Two people were killed after a car crash on Interstate 80 in Lake County, Indiana on Sunday morning.

It was around 1 a.m. when troopers responded to a multi-vehicle crash close to 5.7 mile-marker between Cline Avenue and Burr Street.

Initial investigation shows that a blue 2021 Chevrolet Camaro was moving eastbound at a high rate of speed when it back-ended a silver 2011 Honda Pilot.  It pushed the Honda into the median wall.

The Camaro was driving to the right portion of the roadway when it hit a red 2000 Ford Mustang. This second impact pushed the Ford into the outer sound barrier wall situated on the right side of the roadway.

The Camaro also hit the outer sound barrier where it was engulfed.

Two occupants of the Camaro were pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Honda and Ford were not injured.

Indiana State Police is investigating the crash.
