Two killed after car crash on Highway 79 in Robertson County

Two were killed after a fatal crash in Robertson County, Texas early Tuesday Morning.

It occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on U.S. 79 near FM 1644 west of Hearne.

Officials say the driver of a 2017 Hyundai Sonata drove onto the wrong side of the road and hit a 2016 Peterbilt 18-wheeler head-on.

The reasons behind Sonata driving on the wrong side isn’t known yet.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Trezanay Moore Dykes, of Killeen, and the passenger identified as Alize Lopez, from Granger, were killed.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was hospitalized at CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital.

Department of Public Safety investigated the crash.
