Cummins’ most powerful and biggest diesel engine for Mini; to be up for display at Goodwood

by Alex

Fit the largest diesel engine QSK78 from the manufactures of mammoth sized diesel engines upon a car of compact size like the old Austin MINI and one gets a sight that’s not easy upon the eye.

The QSK78 has eighteen cylinders, near about 12 turbochargers and with its 78 liter displacement produces an eye popping 3,500 hp along with a torque figure that is above of 10,000 lb-ft. Given these features it is indeed a surprise and an oddity on why someone would ever consider placing this goliath of an engine upon the Lilliputian MINI and even if done so how then did they squeeze the space to do so.

The answer to these questions was given by Cummins – largest independent diesel engine manufacturer in the world, who have stated that the whole thing started after they received a request from a customer who apparently wanted something that is the most powerful or the biggest to have in his garage. The owner has decided to have the most powerful MINI in the world. Whether the MINI can actually move after that fitment is a matter to check out. The other option was the customer had decided to house a monster in his garage which appears a better possibility.

The vehicle is going to be up for display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for quenching the thirst of curious eyes.
