Most car fans are already aware of what a coupe and a sedan is. Earlier, people did not have the choice between the two. One could either buy a coupe or a sedan. Hence, buying a coupe or a sedan was pretty simple as there was nothing else to choose from. But not any more as now, people passionate about cars have a choice between the two. Yes you got it right. Now you have the choice between a Coupe and a Sedan. I am sure, you may not see anything like this before.
All that, however, got changed by the Germans with the release of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. The markedly new design, introduced radical changes allowing for four door coup style integrated vehicles having a sloping rear. Even though a new and a bold step, it really paid off better than what was expected by the automotive experts.
Soon after the release of Mercedes Benz CLS coupe styled sports sedans, a wave of new sedan-coupes started hitting the market. The rather slow initial uptake in the market was marked by Volkswagen joining the bandwagon with its CC. The CC was more mass market as against the CLS that was more of an expensive piece of luxury.
Years later, the sedan-coupe table has a few new models being welcomed, with Audi unveiling the A7 and BMW commencing to work on the Gran Coupe model. The Panamera created by Porsche, and Aston Martin has the Rapide. In addition, Hyundai has also determined to work on the mix.
Industry experts are however not sure if the trend will catch on further or would soon fade away. Perhaps we just need to wait and watch the developments.
