Porsche: back to Formula 1?

by Adrian Hayden

It seems that the German builder is considering re-entering F1 after a long pause. The last time Porsche ever raced in F1 was in 1964, even if in the 80’s the company was still providing engines for a few of the racing teams. Mathias Muller, Porsche’s new CEO said that the company is considering a distribution of tasks: Audi will concentrate on racing in Le Mans, and Porsche will enter F1 once again. The chief of Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone, said that he will do everything in his power to help the German team if they are serious about their returning.

I wonder if Audi(as a much larger entity) should not take the role in F1, and let Porsche get back to Le Mans as a full blown prototype. It’s been too long for them to be out of the top-end tier racing since the 911GT1.
