BMW calls back 140.000 cars with N54 engine because of fuel pumps that don’t work properly. The models recalled are 2007, 2010 335i, 2008, 2010 135i and 535i models, X5 and X6 models with X-drive. All of the cars recalled are using the N54 engine, which is a straight 6-cylinder turbocharged motor that develops approximately 300 BHP.
BMW owners in the USA have been complaining about rough starts and engine stalls for about three years now. BMW has tried to quietly fix the problem but the media has found out about this. BMW is now taking this problem more seriously. The German manufacturer expects that not all the cars recalled will need new fuel pumps, but they would rather be safe than sorry.
A faulty fuel pump could lead to an engine stall, which is a major safety hazard. An engine stall prevents the driver from braking, steering, etc.

Its just happened to my 335i coupe here in the UK. The injectors have packed in and to get the damn thing home I have practically burned out the clutch and I suspect knackered the catalysts. The car is less than 30 days old and if they don’t replace the pump, the injectors, the clutch and the catalysts they can keep the car.
