2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class to incorporate landmark interior design changes

by Alex

A change is being effected to the interior looks of the Mercedes-Benz. The first of these changes would be noted in the next-generation Mercedes S-Class that the car maker is going to come out with. Going along the line of the style depicted in the F800 concept car the changes are expected to be seen in the next three years. The rotary knob of the current COMMAND operation would be replaced in this change.

Cameras would be tracking the hand movement and this is what would be used as the COMMAND inputs. There is enthusiasm amongst the design team at Mercedes as is evident by the comments given by their senior interior designer, Hartmut Sinkwitz. Even though some features are carry over’s of previous designs, yet this one is going to look and feel a complete new get up is what the design team has to say.

Gorden Wagener, the previous design engineer at the company and his landmark contributions would be followed up with the future changes that the team is planning to effect. A mix of the past and modernized future is what the end result is going to be. A plug in hybrid system is going to be the theme of the next generation cars. The cars would be fitted with a 80kW motor that offers an electric-only top speed of 75mph. and a range of 19 km with one full charge. Mercedes has also announced that the charge can be done through any 120 volt source and takes 4.5 hours.
