2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid introduced in China

by Alex

The new Cayenne Hybrid was introduced by Porsche at the Guangzhou Auto Show event held in China. The model offers improved mileage, which brings along the added advantage of reduced emission. The Chinese government has however refused to give cover under the green subsidy clause. The pricing of the car therefore is expected to start at $156,000. Official confirmation of these figures would only be possible in early 2011. The car is installed with a supercharged 3.0l V6 internal combustion engine which is mated to an electric motor. The total power output of the combined power house is 380 hp where 333 hp is delivered by the engine alone.

A decoupling clutch mechanism has been used to couple the two drive units. The V6 engine itself uses a new eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission for power transfer. In the US the rating of this car has been established at 21 mpg for city rides and 25 mpg for highway drives. The acceleration factor of the car is 6.1 seconds for a build from 0 to 62 mph.

The car is eligible for Federal Tax Credit in the US and therefore buyers of the car before the 31st of December got an incentive of $1,800 from the base price of the car which is $67,700. This cost of course does not include destination charges. For wheels the car has 18-inch wheels though there could be some variations or options in this. The car also features automatic headlight activation, 2-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, adjustable rear seat bench and audio system with touch screen color display.
