Information as well as official photographs of the Huayra from Pagani has finally been released after quite a period of teasing. This car is the successor of the company’s Zonda model.
Pronounced “WHY-ra” this car has been under development for last seven years and finally gets to see light of launch at the Geneva motor Show which is scheduled to be held early March.
For engine the car has a twin-turbo 6.0 liter V12, with the engine block being taken from Mercedes Benz. This is also used on the SL65 Black Series. There have however been new head turbos, pistons and exhaust manifolds that Mercedes tuners have made specifically for Pagani. There would be two variants of the engine coming in with one being the 700 hp version with 664 lb-ft of torque, which is the base version and a Sport tune with 730 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. For transmission there is the seven speed gearbox with paddle shifters. Xtrac the racing specialist have been the manufacturer of the gear box. The car is a rear wheel drive and the engine is mounted behind the seats.
The car boasts of brisk acceleration and is capable of breaching the three figure speed mark from standing still in a mere 3.3 seconds. This after complying with all the safety standards as per US regulations.
Carbon fiber has been used for the body of the car including the gullwing doors. The car also has motorized flaps at each corner of the car that operate independent of each other as well as includes active aerodynamics. It is to increase aerodynamic down force for acceleration, braking and cornering that the flaps are deployed.
In order to facilitate for clearing speed bumps in parking lots, the front suspension height has been kept as adjustable. Curb weight of the car is 2,976 pounds. Price of the car is expected to be about $1.37 million.
