The 2011 edition of Frankfurt Auto Show will be the host for many production and concept debuts, but let’s not forget about the tuners. One of them is the German tuning house Alpina, which has been modifying BMWs cars for more than four decades. Based on the latest 6-Series Convertible, their newest creation is the B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio, which will make its world premiere at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show on September 13.
As standard, the 6-Series comes with an total output of 407 horsepower from its 4.4-liter V-8 engine. Pretty impressive for many of us, but not for Alpina, who thought that this isn’t enough, so it equipped the convertible with a 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque between 3,000 and 4,750 rpm setup. With this massive increase in power and 193 mph topspeed, the convertible now hits 62 mph from rest in 4.8 seconds, which is a 0.2-second improvement over the 650i’s 5.0 seconds tun.
Unforunately, the teaser photos do not show many details or any major styling changes. However, the car does get a pair of dual chrome tips out back and some carbon fiber work and an “Alpina” badge on the front end.
In addition to that, the tuner’s trademark multispoke alloy wheels plus carbon fibre trim bits, front apron and rear spoiler as well as bespoke interior parts will be fitted on this car.
The tuning company hasn’t indicated a price or sale date just yet, but we’ll have more details when the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show gets underway on the 13th, so stay tuned for details.
