The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show is almost open, so automakers are starting to bring their cars at the stands from the event. As some of you might know, the Italian manufacturer, Alfa Romeo will present at the greatest auto show from Europe its latest concept car, a truly unique car with very beautiful lines. You’ve probably already guessed, we’re talking about Alfa Romeo 4C Concept. We have already presented the first official images, but now a member at Autoblog.nl managed to sneak into the hall where Alfa Romeo will display their latest vehicles. The Fluid Metal Alfa 4C Concept was photographed and we are able to share with you the first pictures.
The new car comes with some subtle updates, a new and exclusive ‘fluid metal’ exterior color that enhances the already smooth and sinuous lines of the car.
While the engine delivers more than 200 horsepower, this vehicle’s weight is confirmed at around 1,875 pounds, so the weight to power ratio is less than nine pounds per horsepower. It’s light and powerful enough for a top end over 155mph and 0-62mph in less than 5.0sec, predicts Alfa.
In addition comes the extra-light materials and technology derived from the 8C Competizione. These include carbon fiber, aluminum, rear-wheel drive and technology from Alfa models currently on sale, such as its turbocharged 1.75-liter four-cylinder engine borrowed the Mito GTA hot hatch.
That lavish material mix will swell the showroom price to around £40,000, but we still predict long queues once production starts in late 2012.
Sergio Marchionne, Fiat’s CEO, has promised the Alfa Romeo 4C will hit the European showrooms in the first half of next year, while the US market might get its hands on the first units in late 2012.
