Production for KIA GT Concept Will Start: Inside Specs

Aftfer updating it’s curent lineup, the GT Concept will enter production in 2013, encouraged by the positive reactions it got at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show last week. This would be the perfect acquisition to the South Korean brand’s reinvigorated global line-up, says the Kia chief design officer, Peter Schreyer.

“It would be a dream to put this into production – it has a logical layout, with four seats, and good luggage space, and it’s also engaging and dynamic and makes a strong statement,” Mr Schreyer said.
“It’s exactly the kind of car Kia should be making.”

The Kia GT is a rear-drive with the Audi A7 clearly in its sights, being patterned after the rear-drive luxury grand tourers of the 1970s.
The Kia GT couldn’t be mistaken with anything else but a a rear-drive sedan, thanks to its design team, which wanted to make sure of that. In that light, the car has elongated hood, short front overhang, and bulging rear shoulders that emphasize the car’s overall cab-rearward design.
As far ar the engine is concerned, this model of Kia does not dissapoint. Having a 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 giving 389 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque, and power for GT being routed through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, nothing can be said to criticize this unit.
