Volvo CX60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept – Photos and Info

by Site Default

Volvo released ther new Hybrid Concept, the CX60 Plug-in at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit – and what a hybrid car; probably one of the very best out there.

The XC60 features a 4 cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 280 horsepower and 380 Nm, and an electric engine that produces 70 horsepower, and whose power comes from a lithium-ion battery pack, so a total of 350 horsepower, which was previously only reached by 8 cylinder engines. This Volvo can be driven in three modes: pure, hybrid and power. The pure mode uses only the electric engine, for a maximum range of 35 miles. The hybrid mode uses both the electric and the gasoline engine, for an optimum ratio between power, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In this mode, the fuel economy in continuous driving is 50 mpg, a range of 600 miles and CO2 emissions of 53 g/km. The power mode also uses both engines for the maximum amount of power that this car has to offer, for acceleration from 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds.

This vehicle has a four wheel drive: the gasoline engine powers the front wheels, while the electric one powers the rear wheels.

The CX60 can be recharged at a usual outlet, and it also features a Starter Generator that recharges the electric engine while driving. Some other capabilities of this car are the mobile application, which allows the owner to access information about the car while away, the infotainment system that offers the driver information about locations where power outlets are available, and others.

The cost price and release date of this concept are currently unknown.
