Ferrari is planning on producing a supercar in response to Porsche’s 918 Spyder. Rumors are that this response will get the form of an Enzo successor. What’s so special about this Enzo? It’s going to have a power around 900 horsepower.
The Italian exotic car maker wants to keep the curb weight of the new Enzo constant, while decreasing cylinder capacity. Although, in general, a smaller engine means less power, that’s not going to be the case here. The new Enzo will be powered by a V8, unlike the current Enzo’s 6.0-liter V12, that only delivers 660 horsepower. The too-good-to-be-true V8 will feature a twin turbocharger. Because the mass remains the same, but the power increases by 35%, the performance will probably by outstanding, maybe even approaching the barrier of the Bugatti Veyron.
Initial rumors were that Ferrari would build the new Enzo to reach 500 horsepower, which isn’t even close to the 900 they’re planning to do now, but the sources seem pretty sure of the new power.
An Enzo successor could appear as early as beginning of 2013 or ending 2012. The price will most likely be colossal.
