Peugeot 508 RXH – Photos and Info

by Site Default

Peugeot’s version of Audi’s A4 or Volkswagen’s Passat Alltrack is the 508 RXH. Unlike the German automobiles, this Peugeot is a diesel hybrid. It features an all-wheel drive, the rear wheels being powered by a 37-horsepower electric motor, and the front wheels by a 161 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbodiesel. Combined power is 197 horsepower, which is certainly not bad. The combined torque is of around 375 lb-ft.

Range in all electric mode is 2.5 miles with a top speed of 40 mph. Of course, this isn’t a hybrid that’s built for electric drives, but when both engines are used, it does provide rather interesting performance.

0 to 62 is rated at 8.8 seconds, and the top speed at 132 mph. This kind of speed is more than all right for a 4×4. With this performance you would expect a vehicle in this class to have a massive fuel consumption, but keep in mind that this is a hybrid we’re talking about. Official value of the fuel consumption is an astonishing 56.5 mpg in average, with only 107 g/km of CO2 emissions. This is in part possible thanks to the usage of a six speed manual instead of a dual-clutch or a torque-converter unit.

The base price is lower than the one of the Audi’s, and a little higher than VW’s, at around $53,750 in the U.K.
