Mercedes-Benz has been the provider for the Official F1 Safety Car and the Official F1 Medical Car for the Formula One seasons since last 18 years. The 2013 Formula One season will feature the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT as the safety car while the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate is used as the medical car.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT safety car features 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine which can generate 591 hp and 650 Nm of peak torque. The car has been connected to the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission.
The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate Medical car features 6.3-litre V8 engine of the C 63 AMG and has the AMG Performance package and can produce up to 487 hp. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT safety car is driven by Bernd Mayländer from Germany and his co-driver, Pete Tibbetts from Great Britain. The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate Medical car is driven by racing driver Alan van de Merwe from South Africa and his co-driver is the official FIA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ian Roberts from Great Britain.
