Ford unveils Mustang GT Daytona 500 Pace Car

by Alex

For the first time ever, Ford Mustang will pace Daytona 500 on February 14th at Daytona International Speedway. The last time a Ford served as pace car for the Daytona 500 was 40 years ago when a Ford Torino GT convertible led the field to the green flag.

This special edition Mustang features a special Daytona 500 paint scheme, Ford Racing suspension, strut tower brace and mufflers, unique painted wheels, and special interior treatment, including specially branded lit sill plates.

Under the hood is the all-new 5.0-liter V-8 engine capable of producing 412 horsepower. Want one? The actual pace car will be auctioned off for charity later this week at the annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction. Total production is limited to 50 cars, meaning you are probably already late if you want one.

AmericanMuscle has a variety of Mustang racing stripes to give your ride a cool new look.

Nice to see the 5.0 badges adorn the Mustang again. Looks kind of weird at first since the last time we’ve seen those emblems they were on the foxbody platform.
