Next-gen Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG to be offered as a sedan, coupe, cabrio and estate – report

by SpeedLux

A latest report indicates that Mercedes-Benz has plans of offering the next generation C63 AMG in at least four body styles: sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon.

The highly anticipated range-topping C-Class will supposedly be introduced in November this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show and quite likely at first as a sedan. The other versions that include coupe, cabrio and estate are expected to follow soon which will all be powered by the sedan’s V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine. This motor will represent the result of combining two 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo units from the A45 / CLA45 / GLA45 AMG.

However as of now exact engine output details are not available but the new C63 AMG should be able to output at least 450 HP (331 kW) and may go up to 500 HP (368 kW) for the version equipped with the optional performance package. Back in January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), AMG chief Tobias Moers also said that the new C63 AMG will be offered exclusively with a rear-wheel drive layout.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sedan will go on sale in early 2015.
