Volkswagen Amarok Power concept debuts at Wörthersee 2014

by Max Richardson

This past weekend at the GTI event in Austria, Volkswagen unveiled the Amarok ‘Power’ concept, demonstrating an idea for providing a mobile sound system at any event. Basically what we are looking at is a mobile DJ workplace

The spacious cargo bed of the 5.25-metre-long pick-up stores all the equipment needed for parties.

Simple to set up at the venue, this sound system delivers a total power of 5,000 watts.

The portable DJ equipment is provided by Pioneer and Allen & Health, featuring two speakers and a subwoofer specifically designed by Void Acoustics along with six loudspeakers built into dedicated sound boxes.

In addition to this portable DJ equipment, the Amarok Power concept is visually quite different from the production model, wearing a unique Dynamic Grey metallic paint with orange accents and riding on 22-inch alloy wheels. There are also gunmetal finish mirror caps, bi-xenon headlights and chrome dual exhaust pipes.

Interior shows bucket seats, black & orange Nappa leather, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and a carbon leather trim.

Under the hood is a 3.0-liter V6 TDI producing 272 hp and 600 Nm of torque linked to a 8-speed automatic transmission. Top speed is 210 km/h (130 mph) and 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) comes in 7.9 seconds.
