The 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that is being held in Las Vegas, US, is definitely a cool exhibition event for automakers from all over the world. Among these automakers is Volkswagen. The German automotive brand has officially launched its new Golf R Touch at the said event. According to the German brand, the vehicle is meant to preview the sorts of interior that the company will be offering to its loyal fans in its future vehicle lineups.

Among all the new features, one that is quite interesting is the new infotainment system. This time around, VW has made sure that the infotainment system on its vehicles will be able to receive gesture input. In addition to that, it will also come with a touchscreen display that measures significantly larger than what the company had been offering in the past. VW has also equipped this new infotainment system with plenty of sensors and functions yet minimizing distractions.

There are quite a few displays available on the vehicle. To begin with, there will be a touchscreen display measuring 12.8 inches and this one will feature a high resolution. This one is intended for the vehicle’s infotainment system. Then, there will be a touchscreen display for the Control Center as well. This one measures 8 inches in diagonal. In addition to that, VW has also replaced conventional dials with Active Information Display measuring 12.3 inches as well as digital instrument clusters.

Speaking of these new technologies, the German automaker claims that they will be highly modifiable, just like on a tablet. The vehicle even takes advantage of a 3D camera that is available within its roof lining. So, anytime the driver touches the roof of the vehicle, a big screen measuring 12.8 inches will directly display digital controls meant for the sunroof. A similar technology is also available for the seats, according to VW.

Another very interesting and unique feature that the VW Golf R Touch has to offer is the ambient lighting. Believe it or not, it supports 16.7 millions of colors in total. According to reliable sources, it won’t be long before all these technologies will become massively available, especially on vehicles that bear the VW badge on them.
