A DRIVER died and an elderly couple got the shock of their lives when a car crashed through the cooking area of a house in the West Australian Wheatbelt town of Gnowangerup.
The Holden Commodore had actually struck a neighbouring property prior to landing upside down in the kitchen area of a home on Yougenup Rd, 345km southeast of Perth, on Sunday around 10.30 pm.
The 45-year-old motorist, a farmer, was caught inside the blue sedan and died at the location.
Seconds earlier, his car had crashed into the front yard of a house across the roadway before striking another home then drawing out of control into the third property’s kitchen area.
An authorities spokesperson stated when officers arrived they were unable to see the motorist due to the rubble on the vehicle.
Electric wires were discovered and gas and fuel were leaking from the car, which posed a threat to emergency situation workers.
