The All New 2012 Porsche Boxster Caught Testing

by Alex

The latest iteration of Boxster from Porsche is currently undergoing trial runs in Germany and we have the photographs here. The model is still under camouflage though not as extensive as it was before. So many of the style cues can be picked up of the new Boxster. Like it’s going to be a bit longer and wider than its predecessors, something that will lead to a more roomy interior.

Also, the exterior of the new Boxster is going to be what can be referred to as a gentle makeover of what the earlier or the current Boxster looks like. However, what seems evident is that more striking changes are saved for the interior where it’s likely to be influenced heavily by the Panamera. Then the new Boxster will also share many of the parts with the 911.

Engineers are likely to train their focus on weight reduction as a means of enhancing the car’s mannerisms while the new Boxster is also expected to employ new aerodynamic systems such as the front air intake mechanisms that are originally meant to be used on the next generation 911.

However, the most important change to take place in the new Boxster is perhaps under its hoods as Porsche is believed to be actively considering the inclusion of a high-output, turbocharged four-cylinder engine to the Boxster range. Such a move, it is believed will let Porsche offset many of the bigger cars from the Porsche stable like the Cayenne while also bringing about a reduction in CO2 emissions.

However, its likely that Porsche will continue to offer the flat six engines in the next Boxster as well, though with a more improved tune level to enhance power output as well as fuel economy.
