A38 reopens after collision of tanker and car near Little Eaton

Part of the A38 southbound near Derby, which was partly closed after a collision between a car and a tanker at the Little Eaton roundabout, has resumed.

The road was entirely resumed just after 1pm, as per traffic service Inrix.

The closure had impacted the A38 southbound between A61 Alfreton Road (Little Eaton Island) and the A6 Duffield Road/Kings Croft (Palm Court Island).

A representative for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue service stated that the mishap occurred at the A61/A38 roundabout. A car was associated with a crash with the back of a tanker.

One driver was caught by their injuries. The emergency services took over emergency treatment and removed the roof of the automobile.

He added that they received the emergency call at 10.43 am and 3 fire appliances. Police and ambulance services also participated.

The road closure was followed by lane restrictions on the A38 prior to it was entirely resumed at 1.08 pm.

However, the Imrix traffic service is presently warning of extremely ‘slow traffic’.

A driver who witnessed the scene said on care had been nearly totally crushed.
